Dental Implants
Dental Implants
Dental implants are replacement tooth roots.
Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth. Once an implant is placed into the bone it is recommended to wait approximately 3 months to allow the bone to heal around the dental implant. Once the healing period is complete, a crown is made and placed on top of a metal post to secure it to the implant.
There are many advantages to dental implants, which include:
Improved appearance – Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth.
Improved speech – Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth (dentures) might slip.
Improved comfort - Much like natural teeth, Dental Implants become part of you which eliminates the discomfort you can get from wearing a removable denture.
Easier eating - Dentures can move around whilst eating and can make chewing difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods with confidence and without pain.
Improved self-esteem - You can smile freely without the worry of dentures sliding around or having gaps.
Durability - Dental Implants are very durable and will last many years. With proper cleaning, many implants last a lifetime.
